Launch Night For KO Tape
On Tuesday the 26th June, the KO Tape team invited a host of individuals from the boxing community past and present to get together and enjoy an evening of boxing chat and nostalgia. The reason for the celebration was the official launch night of KO Tape and its new website kotape.co.uk. It was an evening that we will never forget. It was our opportunity to discuss why we have created the KO Tape, and why it is so important for the boxers to use it.
As a company, Steroplast Healthcare are a UK brand leader. Manufacturers and distributors of medical disposables, pharmaceuticals and diagnostic equipment. As they have a wide range of products, Steroplast work within several sectors including the emergency and first aid sector. They’re a company with a strong passion for sport, this is shown as they work closely with several sports team and individuals in the local area.
After visiting local gyms and boxing club’s in and around Manchester. It seemed that many boxers are not protecting their hands properly when training and sparring. Because of this, they wanted to create the best boxing tape available on the market using their medical knowledge and manufacturing experience. A tape to give boxers the confidence that their hands are fully protected when stepping into the ring.
The Big Launch Night
The launch night began with a champagne reception (soft drinks for the fighters obviously!) After the big introduction, everybody then got the chance to relax and enjoy food and some great chat. The team had also arranged some special showcases throughout the night.
Throughout the night itself there was professional sports massages and nutritional advice available from Blakes Sports Nutrition. There were the premiers of the new KO Tape videos featuring the finest Manchester fighters. Filled with boxing memorabilia old and new it was a welcoming venue for everyone in the boxing community. This allowed the fighters, coaches, cutmen and all visitors to reminisce about their experiences of this great sport. However, the main focus was our hand wrapping masterclasses, given by a couple of big names in British boxing.
Hand Wrapping Masterclasses
Lee Beard stepped up first to give everyone a masterclass in taping the hands correctly. Lee is a boxing trainer from Salford, he is famous for his work with Ricky Hatton and Floyd Mayweather Sr. Regarded as one of the best hand wrappers in the UK, Lee is currently working with Jimmy Kelly, Vijender Singh and Adrian Gonzalez.
Later in the night, Paulino Da Silva showcased his style of hand wrapping. Paulino used to box himself, in fact, he is a former Central Area Champion. He is now a very successful boxing coach at Moston and Collyhurst Boxing Club. Training big names like Lyndon Arthur, Zelfa Barrett, Sean Ben Mulligan and many more.
Both Lee and Paulino demonstrated their own style of hand wrapping using the new KO Tape. Each achieving maximum protection to the fighter’s hands.
The Undisputed Champion of Tapes
The night was a huge success and everyone who came enjoyed it, they also loved the tape! We were honoured to have Zelfa Barrett, Jimmy Kelly, Charlie Schofield, Pat Barrett, Arnie Farnell, Sean Krool, Mauro Silva and more, the room was filled with some big names in the industry,
